My one year anniversary is coming up, and my BF asked for a list of what I wanted. Which I gave him.

So last night, he comes to me and says, "Do you want anything that's NOT for a doll?"

WHA--?

What else would I want?

I mean, honestly, I live in a small apartment and am saturated with "things." AG stuff is the only thing I really want right now. I have all the DVDs I want, same with CDs, and I don't have time for video games. Jewelry would be an obvious choice, but to be blunt, I have pretty expensive taste. Anything I'd really love would probably exceed our $50 budget.

Maybe I should branch out. But still, it kind of hurt my feelings. He's been very good with me collecting dolls in the past, and as gifts has a canny way of knowing what I want (even if I don't tell him). It seems strange that he'd have this change of heart all of the sudden. All he said is, "Well, I want to give you something different now and then."

Any ideas? What would YOU ask for for anniversary? The only thing that comes to my mind is a charm for my charm bracelet or the new Nancy Drew video game (which I still wouldn't have time to play...)

It sounds like HE may want a break from AG!
Perhaps you could ask for just some special time for the two of you to spend together-- maybe a nice dinner out, or some activity you both enjoy.
After all, anniversaries are about both of you.
If he's brave enough to come to you about giving you something non-AG, it must be fairly important to him.
(And now and then you need to cut a mere man some slack.) [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

My husband and I are coming up on our one year anniversary, the paper anniversary. I asked him if he is going to get me a doll, and he said, "not unless they make them out of paper." And I got this big smile on my face and was like "oh my gosh..." (thinking paper dolls)
Which is exactly what he was going to get me.

But now that he accidentally ruined it (he is a big suprise person) I probably won't get them

Originally we were going to do nice paper gift certificates to our favorite places, but if I hadn't accidentally guessed his suprise that would have been the coolest thing ever.

Sorry- I totally just hijacked your topic. Let me reread it and then I will say something relevent

Okay your question, things I would ask for for an anniversary.

A nice pair of earrings.
Salsa dancing lessons that he would come with me to.
Concert tickets.
Tickets to a broadway (or traveling) show.
A day at a spa, or just a nice massage or manicure/pedicure
An afternoon horseback riding

Hope you have a nice one

My husbands bad with that...it varies...usually it is a toy (we are both toy collectors)...However, this was the first year that I didn't get a stuffed animal for any holiday, birthday, anniversary. The last time I counted-he has given me over 90!

Maybe something that matches your doll interests? Like a trip to a historical re-enactment park.

I'd also say something you two can do together. You might already have that included in your anniversary, but maybe a special night planned for sometime in the future- when things are more mundane- to do something special.

If all your wants are satisfied, you could ask him to make a donation to a charity for you.

Dh and I are not big "gift" people. For our bdays or especially our anniversarys, we do usually go out for a splurge night--a dinner that is twice as much as we would normally spend, or a show or something, so that's like our gift, and as everyone has said, it's time together.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree - we were always mini-vacation people. However, we are now divorced, so maybe you don't want to take advice from me

You're right, I think he wants an AG break .

We are going to dinner and a movie, probably. The tickets idea is good... Maybe there's a musical or show on around that time? I never get to see any of the big shows (Like The Producers) and I've always wanted to.

Unfortunately, I'm not a concert person. The only concert coming up I really want to go to is U2, but the cheapest tickets available were $80 a pop--and those sold out before I could get them! Yikes.

Funny...I just thought of another thing I'd like: a nice chess set. I went online, and all of the good ones are still really $100 +! YEESH. Am I doomed to having expensive taste or what? Oh, but that gives me another idea, there are fun board games out there I could ask for.
